| I was at the Albertville Outlet Mall location of Icing on Sunday, March 15th with my 13 year old granddaughter. The store was definitely an attraction to teen agers (can't imagine many 20 year olds shop there). Both of us liked the store very much and the employees were friendly.
My objection: The first thing my eyes and Cody's (granddaughter) were attracted to was a display of "flasks" - YES, the type used for liquor and then put in back pockets in the old days. There were many styles (decorated in a girl spirit) and many of each style.
After some pondering, I did not want to embarass granddaughter, when we were checking out I asked the assistant manager (with manager standing right next to her) if I could make comments about the store. I said the store was very nice and very attractive to teen age girls. She was happy about comment and agreed. I then mentioned the flasks display and how it appalled me and her comment was that didn't I see the sign. I had. the sign said that Icing did not adhere to underage drinking. Then why sell the product? this reminds me of when candy companies sold candy cigarettes - they do not anymore.
What would be the purpose of a teen age girls having a back pocket (or purse) flask - kool=aid or flavored water perhaps?? What is the next thing - condoms with a sign that Icing does not adhere to teen-agers having sex?
The assistant manager and manager did not seem to appreciate my comments.
When we left the store, my granddaughter actually thanked me for speaking up - as she did not like the display either.
Would like some feed back on this from company management.
